After signing with Alliance Beverage Partners (Craft) and Tres Hermanos, Devil’s Canyon’s Full Boar Scotch Ale, California Sunshine Rye IPA, Deadicated Amber Ale and Silicon Blonde are now available for sale to all ABC licensed establishments (Bars, Restaurants, Bottle Shops, etc.) in the six counties around Los Angeles.

All of our award-winning products are available in kegs. Full Boar Scotch Ale and California Sunshine Rye IPA is also available in 22oz bottles and next month; 4-Packs of 16oz. cans.

As the brewery passes another major milestone we want to pause a moment to thank our growing community of fans for their support. From consumers, to bloggers, to retailers and wholesalers – Thank You.

We have been getting a lot of questions about our distribution so here are some details. (P.S. – Follow us on Facebook for more announcements, questions, photos, etc.)

The Barrel Aged Scotch is a limited, hand numbered run- once it’s gone it’s gone! There are 45 cases in Santa Clara County – there’s a discussion about where to get them here. We sent 100 cases to San Mateo and San Francisco County. The bottles are popping up on store shelves but if you haven’t seen them in your local bottle shop or store they can order them from our distributor Matagrano. The store owner will know how to do it, and orders placed before 4pm typically show up the next day! Here are the item numbers: Scotch #5729, IPA #5730 and Barrel Aged #5731.

If you look at this beautifully color coded map . . .  We self-distribute all of our products (kegs and bottles) in the light grey area that is, Santa Clara County. Blue is Eagle Distributing, Orange is High Water, and Hot Pink is self-distributed (22oz. bottles only) of California Sunshine Rye IPA and Full Boar Scotch ale.

Events like SF Beer Week are a great vehicle for introducing beer aficionados and beginners alike to new craft beer styles and the breweries that create them. The downside is not having access to new favorites once visitors from outside the immediate San Francisco Bay Area return home.

We are extremely excited to be able to make our award winning craft beer products available in the North Bay. Eagle has two operations, the home office in Santa Rosa and the other in Ukiah; both serve the freshest and highest quality products to their customers.

They are a family owned and operated beverage distributor that was founded in 1989 by Charlie Head, Mark Gleason and Mickey Head in Sonoma County. Through hard work, dedicated employees and an important focus on the community Eagle expanded into Marin, Mendocino and Lake Counties.

With the marketing messages and Y chromosome removed, you can explore a variety of styles, learn something new and maybe even surprise yourself.  A blind tasting of 8+ beers will be led by Brewery owner Kristiann Garrett. The tasting will help you discover new beers, flavors, complexities and styles. If it is anything like last year, you’ll likely find a new favorite!

In addition to producing their own award-winning beer and root beer, Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company also provides contract manufacturing and packaging services (Type 23 California ABC Licenses) for both start-up and established breweries as well as various beverage companies needing the space and equipment to see their dreams come to fruition.

For SF Beer Week, the brewers and owners of the various companies contract brewing through Devil’s Canyon will be pouring and showcasing their locally made craft beers on Friday February 17th from 5pm-10pm.

What happens when you throw a group of creative brewers (Triple Voodoo, Pacific Brew Labs, High Water Brewing, Golden Mongoose, Phat Matt’s, Two Monkeys, MyBucha, Red Cup Lager, & Devil’s Canyon) in a room with the direction to design and brew a beer that reflects some of their favorite ingredients, brewing styles and techniques?… KALEIDOSCOPE HAPPENS

Starting with the general framework of an IPA, the group gravitated toward these malt elements:  Pale malt, crystal malts, biscuit malt, oatmeal, roasted wheat, rice and a few other surprises were selected. To make things really interesting, Green and Black Teas were added to the mash.

For the hop additions, an “inventory clean up” approach was undertaken; a little of this, a little of that.  The bitterness levels were kept on the lower side to allow the tea and whirlpool additions to come through.

And speaking of whirlpool additions… dried currant and Grain of Paradise were added to play off the unique flavors contributed from the mash.  Throw in some English Yeast and the beer was underway.

The result is a dark ale with the look of a dark roasted beer but sublimely smooth and complex from the varied layers of malt and special ingredients.  Please enjoy our creation and raise a toast to the spirit of collaboration and Kaleidoscope!

Jenn and Lindsey (and their mascot Barley) run a mobile canning line, dubbed the Can Van, which just got off the ground right here in the Bay Area. They just got back from picking up their custom trailer in Colorado and I managed to track them down at Devil’s Canyon Brewing Co. in Belmont where they were doing their first run of cans.

PHS/SPCA, a private non-profit guided by the humane ethic, builds healthy relationships between people and animals. As an ethical choice, we accept all animals in need of care and often provide a second chance to the neediest animals: those who would otherwise be turned away at so-called “no kill” agencies that accept only highly adoptable animals. We also serve as our County’s provider of animal rescue and control services and, as such, have no control over the number of incoming animals. Our record is outstanding.

Since 2003, we have adopted 100% of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats. Our definition of “healthy” is based on the State’s definition: dogs and cats without medical or behavioral issues, those that are fully weaned and social. It excludes obviously unhealthy animals (those with injuries and illnesses or those behaviorally scarred from past treatment and mistreatment) as well as unweaned kittens and feral cats.  Still, donations to our Hope Program allow us to make well, then place into new homes approx. 170 animals every month.

In February 2008, the Society celebrated accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) following a comprehensive review of the shelter’s veterinary program. Community education and outreach, partnerships, and a dedicated volunteer group greatly extend our mission and work.

On February 10, 2012, over 50 Northern California breweries will converge on the Concourse in San Francisco for the Opening Celebration of SF Beer Week, which kicks off a nine day marathon of beer tastings, small festivals and food pairing dinners across the Bay Area. From 6-10pm, beer lovers will discover newly minted nanobrewers pouring alongside legendary craft brewing pioneers.

This year the Opening Celebration has moved to a larger venue in San Francisco’s SOMA district. The Concourse pavilion will provide a more spacious experience, easier access to the breweries and more food options will be available. Artisan producers from around the Bay will serve up a range of delicious choices for purchase, while live music fills the air.
