Here are some quick bios:
California’s gold coast of Ventura County is lucky to have singer-songwriter, performing, recording artist Rachel Sedacca call it home. Her country/blues songs and folksy ballads are full of colorful characters and stories of love and hope from her time on the road. She calls this blend bluesy folkabilly with a signature smile.
Rachel’s diverse repertoire includes her Americana flavored originals, as well as some favorites that she says, “need to be sung”. Inspired by the Janis of all trades style of Bonnie Raitt as well as the sounds of Lucinda Williams and Sheryl Crow, Rachel points to the years of Grateful Dead shows steeping her in an eclectic musical tea, appreciation for the fusing of genres and the ways of the road.
Her first release, “Lucky Like Me” has gained notoriety winning her the coveted 1st place in American Songwriter magazines bi-monthly lyric contest for her grassy song of the California gold rush “Days of ‘49”. Her strong Internet presence led to a two-week tour of Japan in 2003. With local Japanese band members Rachel performed for the annual charity walk at the amazing Nagoya Castle and at the Country Jamboree where she was accompanied by the talented Tom Corbett on mandolin & guitar. Rachel’s 2006 “Young & Beautiful” tour took her over 5,600 miles through the American west. Behind the wheel of her 35 foot, 1971 GMC school bus named “Patience”, Rachel’s 23 date, 11 state, 7 week tour was the fruit of this labor of love by this determined artist.
Rachel released her latest album “Patience Pays” in April 2008. She appeared with an all-star band at Live Oak Music Festival, spearheaded by KCBX radio in San Luis Obispo this past June. Rachel looks ahead at several local and regional shows before her upcoming tour takes her through CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, CO, NM and finally to AZ for the Western Regional Folk Alliance Conference in late October.

David Gans is an American musician, songwriter, and music journalist. He plays guitar, and is known for incisive, literate songwriting. He is also noted for his music loop work, often creating spontaneous compositions in performance. He is the co-author of the book Playing in the Band: An Oral and Visual Portrait of the Grateful Dead, and the host of the weekly syndicated radio show The Grateful Dead Hour.
Gans is credited by many for encouraging Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh to emerge from retirement. Lesh played several shows with David Gans and the Broken Angels in late 1997 and early 1998. Gans assembled interesting combinations of musicians for Lesh to jam with in a series of benefits for Lesh’s Unbroken Chain Foundation, culminating with a sold-out show at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco on January 31, 1998. Shortly after that event, Lesh began assembling ensembles of his own and touring as Phil Lesh and Friends.
After more than twenty years of performing in the San Francisco Bay Area as a solo singer-songwriter and with various bands (The Reptiles, Crazy Fingers, David Gans and the Broken Angels), Gans began touring nationally in 1997, appearing in festivals including the Gathering of the Vibes, the High Sierra Music Festival, MagnoliaFest and the Suwannee SpringFest (both held annually at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park), Grateful Fest (in Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, Ohio), the Master Musicians Festival (in Somerset, Kentucky); the Terrapin Hill Music Festival (in Harrodsburg, Kentucky), Hookahville (in Ohio), the Sunshine Daydream Music Festival (in Terra Alta, West Virginia), the Berkeley (California) Free Folk Festival, and others.
He has performed onstage with members of the Grateful Dead, the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Donna the Buffalo, Peter Rowan, Ollabelle, The Waybacks, Blueground Undergrass, Dark Star Orchestra, Keller Williams, moe., Hot Buttered Rum, the Rowan Brothers, and Henry Kaiser.
